Step 9: Results Key Points

Progress: checking...

  • Inflammation
    • Mouth and gums:ย related to gum disease called periodontitis that eventually can cause the userโ€™s teeth to loosen and fall out.
    • Lungs:ย cells get inflamed and are damaged. Damage was greater when using flavored vape juice.
  • DNA Damage and Repair
    • Chemicals bind to DNA: chemicals can come directly from aerosols or from chemicals that are created when aerosols react in the body.
    • Chemicals can cause breaks in DNA: highest damage is related to sweet, minty, and fruit-flavored vape juice. Breaks in the DNA are related to the formation of cancer cells.ย
    • Reduced DNA repair: in lungs, heart, and bladder cells.
  • Cancer Formation
    • 3 cases of oral cancer reported in humans
    • Animal studies show aerosols can cause cancer.
